Florida Nursing CE & Mandatory CE Requirements – Florida Board of Nursing Continuing Education Requirements (Click Here): All Florida Nursing License Holders (RNs, CNS, ARNP, and LPNs) are required to complete 24 hours of appropriate continuing education (CE) from Florida Board of Nursing approved provider (Not ANCC Accredited Provider) during each renewal period, including two (2) hours relating to prevention of medical errors. In addition to these 24 hours of general CE, each RN and LPN must complete two (2) hours of domestic violence CE every third renewal for a total of 26 hours.
Note: The new 2 CE requirement for the Recognizing Impairment in the Workplace course becomes effective August 1, 2017, then every other biennium thereafter.
Employers may require completion of agency/facility specific continuing education (CE). If you have questions regarding specific CE for your agency/facility, please speak with your supervisor.
Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners are required to complete 24 hours of appropriate CE during each renewal period, including two (2) hours relating to prevention of medical errors. In addition to these 24 hours of general CE, every third renewal two (2) hours of domestic violence CE must be completed for a total of 26 hours.
