Texas Physical Therapy Ethics Continuing Education Requirements (Click Here): Texas Physical Therapy Professionals (PTs and PTAs) are legally required to complete continuing competence (CC) activities to maintain professional licensure – for PTs, 30 units (CCUs) during each two-year renewal cycle, for PTAs, 20 units (CCUs). Licensees are required to complete a minimum of 2 CCUs of approved ethics/professional responsibility CC activities. The ethics contact hours may be a component of a larger course and a licensee may submit more than 2 CCUs in ethics/professional responsibility for renewal purposes.
Do I have to take 2 hours of ethics/professional responsibility every time I renew? Can I take an approved course more than once?
YES and YES. The Board’s rule says that you must take an approved course on ethics/professional responsibility every two years. You can take any ethics course more than once, but you must take 2 hours of ethics during each renewal cycle. If you are audited for CE compliance, the Board will look at the date the course was taken, as well as the approval number. The course must be taken during the 2 year renewal period, or it will not satisfy the renewal requirements. See the Board rules, §341.2(d). You must have 2 hours of CE in ethics and professional responsibility when you renew your license beginning January 2001. (The effective date has been postponed from September 2000 as previously published by the Board.) Remember that not all courses with “ethics” and/or “professional responsibility” in the title will be applicable for the required ethics/professional responsibility course.
Biologix Solutions LLC’s course has been approved by the Texas Physical Therapy Association (TPTA) meeting the ethics CE requirements, Please see the attached supplemental ethics approval letter from the Texas Physical Therapy Association.
