Required Continuing Education in Ethics and Professional Responsibility: Texas PTs and PTAs are legally required to complete continuing competence (CC) activities to maintain professional licensure – for PTs, 30 units (CCUs) during each two-year renewal cycle, for PTAs, 20 units (CCUs). One CCU is the equivalent of one hour’s credit for continuing education or a continuing competence activity.
You must have 2 hours of CE in ethics and professional responsibility when you renew your license beginning January 2001. (The effective date has been postponed from September 2000 as previously published by the Board.) Remember that not all courses with “ethics” and/or “professional responsibility” in the title will be applicable for the required ethics/professional responsibility course.
