Diet and Dentistry – It’s More Than Just Teeth – 2 Hours (Video 🎥)

$25.00

Description

Dentistry is segmented from medicine and other clinical health fields. Oral health and dentition play an important role in systemic health and the medical state of patients. It is integral to patient health, and understanding of oral health, dentition, and diet and how they interact are paramount for clinicians and health professionals.

Oral health and dentition impact how patients eat, function, communicate, and feel. Changes and/or problems with oral health and dentition can have negative impacts on persons’ health, as well as their quality of life. Conversely, improvements to oral health and dentition can have profound positive impacts on every aspect of a person’s life and well-being.

This course (Diet and Dentistry) will explore concepts of diet and how they affect oral health and dentition. We will explore the effect of different foods and diets on oral health and dentition, including cariogenicity, acidity, eating disorders, and oral habits. We will explore how these different factors impact dentition specifically, and more broadly, oral and systemic health. We will also review the impact that poor oral health status has on diet and systemic health.

Upon completion of this course (Diet and Dentistry), you will be able to:

  • Assess aspects of diet that have an impact on oral health and what the specific impacts are of different types of food.
  • Analyze how oral health status impacts a person’s diet and how oral health can be modified to improve diet from a health perspective.
  • Compare the interrelationship between oral health status, dentition, diet, and systemic health.
  • Discuss how to educate patients regarding diet, its impact on systemic and oral health, and what modifications can be made to improve health.
  • Learn how to evaluate a person/ patient’s diet and counsel them to facilitate improvement in oral and systemic health.
