Upon completion of the Ostomy Care Basics course, the participant will be able to: 

• Describe the pathophysiology of the gastrointestinal tract.
• Understand the different types of ostomies.
• List causative factors and indicators for ostomy placement.
• Describe the process of site selection.
• Understand the importance of patient education before and following the ostomy procedure.
• Describe ostomy care and management techniques.
• Identify possible complications of ostomies.
