Description
This course on Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation aims to teach healthcare professionals the intricacies of pelvic floor rehabilitation for common pelvic dysfunction diagnoses. The course covers the functional anatomy of the pelvic floor and how to teach proper contraction and release of the pelvic floor muscles. It also describes various forms of urinary incontinence and the possible combinations of multiple diagnoses. The course helps clinicians diagnose underlying contributors to pelvic floor weakness and describes the effectiveness of electrical stimulation and biofeedback in treating pelvic floor dysfunction.
A major focus of the course is the appropriate progression of pelvic floor strengthening exercises and integrating Kegels and pelvic floor relaxation techniques into daily activities. Participants will also learn about the effects of pregnancy and childbirth on pelvic floor health, the effects of prolapses, and how to strategize effective prolapse treatment options.
The course also covers common causes of pelvic pain and helps clinicians develop treatment strategies for patients with pelvic pain based on the specifics of the diagnosis. Lastly, participants will gain an understanding that pelvic rehabilitation is not just about Kegeling but is an intricate process of understanding the underlying causes of conditions and treating them from multiple angles to rehabilitate those with pelvic dysfunction fully.
