This course provides a comprehensive overview of the most common medical errors that can occur in dental practice, along with a detailed explanation of the different types and causes of dental errors. It also presents various strategies to prevent or control medical/dental errors and discusses methods of identifying, analyzing, and reporting such errors. The course is designed for all dental professionals, including general dentists, dental specialists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants, and meets Florida’s mandate to reduce medical errors for dental professionals.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to: 

• Describe the most common medical errors in the dental practice.
• Identify medical errors associated with prescriptions, therapeutic dosage errors, and diagnostic errors.
• Identify medical errors associated with dental record keeping, informed consent, failure to diagnose, misdiagnosis, and failure to refer.
