GENERAL PHARMACIST CE REQUIREMENTS (FROM BOARD RULE 295.8(d)(1)):
To renew a license to practice pharmacy, a pharmacist must report on the renewal application completion of at least thirty contact hours (3.0 CEUs) of continuing education. The following is applicable to the reporting of continuing education contact hours:
(A) For renewals received after January 1, 2015, at least one contact hour (0.1 CEU) specified in paragraph (1) of this subsection shall be related to Texas pharmacy laws or rules.
(B) For renewals received after January 1, 2019, at least one contact hour (0.1 CEU) specified in paragraph (1) of this subsection shall be related to opioid abuse.

The Texas Pharmacy Act, §559.007, Occupations Code, states:
“A person who practices pharmacy without a current license renewal certificate as required by this chapter is practicing pharmacy without a license and is subject to all penalties for practicing pharmacy without a license.”

The period for completing and reporting CE hours for renewal of a pharmacist license is the time period between consecutive expiration dates of a license. For example, if the previous license expiration date was September 30, 2014, and the current expiration date is September 30, 2016, the CE reporting period is October 1, 2014 until September 30, 2016.

A pharmacist with an inactive license is not required to report any CE hours at the time of renewal. A pharmacist that has been recently licensed is exempt from reporting CE during the first renewal period following the initial application. Any CE requirements imposed upon a pharmacist as part of a disciplinary order shall be in addition to the hours required to renew the license.

National Pharmacy Technician Association (NPTA) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing education.

Biologix Solutions LLC is approved as a Joint Provider of continuing pharmacy education by NPTA.
