The dental commission amended the continuing education rule June 6, 2018. The amended rule requirements are effective January 1, 2019. The following frequently asked questions are for the current rule, and are effective until December 31, 2018. Washington Dental License Renewal Requirements: Licensed dentists must complete 21 clock hours of continuing education, each year, in conjunction with their annual renewal date. DQAC may randomly audit up to twenty-five percent of practitioners for compliance after the credential is renewed as allowed by chapter 246-12 WAC, Part 7. Seven clock hours (out of required 21 hours annually) are allowed to be completed through online courses.
