The Ethics and Professional Responsibility (Medical Ethics) course aims to equip physical therapists and physical therapist assistants with the necessary theoretical foundation to make ethical decisions. The course covers the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Code of Ethics and Guide for Professional Conduct, legal standards of behavior, and the practical application of ethical and legal standards to real-life situations.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to learn: 

• Compare & contrast the definitions of ethics, morals, and law.
• Apply the primary bioethical pillars of medicine to their own clinical practice.
• Cite and support the Code of Ethics of their respective governing bodies.
• Examine common infringements of ethical standards in their own clinical settings.
• Assess their own clinical decision-making based on the standards of medical ethics.
