The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) course is designed for all healthcare providers, whether you’re on the front lines of emergency care, in the operating room, or working in a clinical setting. The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) course goes beyond the basics, diving into real-world applications of Personal Protective Equipment, including understanding various types of PPE, selecting the right gear for different medical scenarios, and ensuring proper donning, doffing, and disposal techniques to prevent cross-contamination. Learners will understand the latest guidelines from regulatory health organizations and recognize components of creating a “Culture of Safety.” Learners will be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to effectively use PPE, protecting themselves, their colleagues, and their patients.

Upon completion of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) course, the participant will be able to: 

• Describe the role of PPE in infection prevention and occupational safety.
• List the various types of PPE (e.g., gloves, masks, respirators, gowns, eye protection) and their specific uses.
• Identify the risks associated with improper PPE use in healthcare settings.
• Perform correct donning (putting on) and doffing (removal) techniques to prevent self-contamination.
• Identify common mistakes in PPE use and strategies to avoid them.
• Differentiate between Standard Precautions and Transmission-Based Precautions in PPE selection.
• Select appropriate PPE for various patient care situations (e.g., contact, droplet, airborne precautions).
