In Florida, a speech therapist (Speech-Language Pathologist) and Audiologist must complete 30 hours of continuing education every two years, with 2 of those hours specifically focused on medical errors prevention.Â
- General Hours – Clinically Related : 18 Hours
- General Hours – Non-Clinical: 10 Hours
- Medical Error – 2 Hours
All 28 hours of general can be clinically related if you choose

Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) in Michigan must complete 20 hours of continuing education (CE) every two years to renew their license:
- Pain and symptom management: One hour per renewal period
- Human trafficking training: One-time requirement
- Implicit bias training: Two hours per renewal cycle
SLPs can earn a maximum of 15 hours of ASHA registered courses per renewal period. The remaining five credits must be completed in another form. One ASHA CEU is equivalent to one CPD for licensure purposes.
Renewals begin 90 days before the current license expires. If a license has lapsed for more than three years, the applicant must also pass the PRAXIS Series II Exam.

Speech therapists (Speech-Language Pathologists) & Audiologist are required to complete:
- Number of CE hours:Â 20 hours every two yearsÂ
- Ethics requirement:Â Minimum of 2 hours must be related to ethics

In South Carolina, a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) must complete
- 16 hours of continuing education per license period to maintain their license, which is typically every two years.
Speech Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs) need to complete
- 8 hours during the same period.
