Florida LCSW, MFT, LMHC Continuing Education Requirements:
In Florida, Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs), and Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs) are required to complete 30 hours of continuing education (CE) every two years for license renewal. This CE must cover specific topics, such as medical errors, ethics and telehealth, and domestic violence, as well as relevant laws and rules.
Renewal Period: The current renewal period is from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2027.
Here’s a breakdown of the CE requirements:
- Total CE Hours: 30 hours every two years.
- General CE Hours: 25 hours.
- Required Topics: Medical Errors: 2 hours every renewal period.
- Ethics and Boundaries or Telehealth: 3 hours every renewal period, alternating each biennium (if taking ethics one renewal, take telehealth the next).
- Florida Laws and Rules: 3 hours every third biennium.
- Domestic Violence: 2 hours every third biennium.
- Qualified Supervisor Training: 4 hours every third biennium for those who are Qualified Supervisors.
